A small act, a big impact: long live handmade soap.

By Valérie, l'Arbre à Savon, on 26/05/2025

Behind every soap, a skilled hand

At Wimzzi, we’ve got everything to lather up your wishes: dozens of passionate artisans offer handmade soaps – each one different, all designed to care for your skin and the planet. From Snoap to Les Copines Savonnent,, from C’Bel Organic Skincare and La Maisonette, Diloune to Cap des Tentes,, and of course L’Arbre à Savon… one thing is clear: an artisanal soap is more than hygiene, it’s a meaningful choice.

Today, we’d love to share the story of Valérie, founder of L’Arbre à Savon. She truly represents everything we admire: transparency, passion, quality… and a good dose of lather and a touch of magic.

Soap is not “just soap”

Here’s why switching from industrial shower gels to artisanal solid soap really matters:

> Better for your skin

Say goodbye to harsh formulas, chemical scents, and pretty bottles full of questionable ingredients. L’Arbre à Savon soaps are zero waste, zero nasties, and 100% joy. Made with quality plant oils, nourishing butters, and sometimes organic essential oils. The result? Soft, calm, happy skin.

> Better for the planet

Each soap is designed to reduce its environmental impact. No useless packaging. No plastic. And the cherry on top? Part of the profits go to Graine de Vie, planting trees in Madagascar. Yes, washing can help change the world.

> Local, beautiful, and Belgian

Valérie doesn’t just make soap. She creates a full beauty routine: solid shampoos, deodorants, make-up removers, toothpaste, lip balms – even solid dish soap! All handmade in Belgium. A true way of life. And true craftsmanship.

Sometimes the best way to explain… is to let Valérie speak for herself.

“I work with natural, unprocessed ingredients – no palm oil, no synthetic preservatives, and above all, no compromises. The plant oils I use are organic, local and/or fair trade. The clays are natural, and the scents are sometimes blends of organic essential oils, chosen for their skin benefits. I want each soap to care for your skin and respect the planet.”

…and to explain how she makes them, with care and simplicity.

“Cold process soapmaking is a choice for patience. It avoids heating the oils, so their nourishing properties are preserved. The result? Soaps rich in natural glycerin – perfect for sensitive skin. Each bar rests for 4 to 6 weeks before it leaves the workshop, like a fine wine. I cut every soap by hand and wrap each piece with love. It’s slow, but that’s what makes each one unique.”

🎥 Meet Valérie, in her workshop

We visited her at home, in her calm and authentic universe. We listened to her story, her choices, and her way of creating. And now, we’re sharing it all with you in this Wimzzi video — raw, honest, and without filters.

A real and heartfelt look inside the world of L’Arbre à Savon.

Watch it as often as you like.

I believe we can take care of ourselves without polluting, without harming our bodies, and without overcomplicating things. A soap can be simple, effective, and gentle at the same time. Sometimes I get messages from customers saying their eczema is gone since they started using my soaps. That… that’s the best reward I could ever receive.
